I live in NZ, a temperate climate with abundance of cloud and very low UVB from April to November. We are exposed to high UVA due to poor ozone protection. Many people have little or no sun exposure throughout the winter then in summer increase their exposure sporadically. This increased exposure is occuring when dermal vitamin D is very low. The damage being done is so avoidable. Almost everyone should be taking 3000IU to 5000IU daily over the winter to prepare them for summer exposure. This way the damage done will be minimized. So if you are in NZ, don't listen to the Government take a supplement during the winter.
